The Breast Imaging Department medical staff has expertise in both benign and malignant breast diseases. The technical staff is certified by the national American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) both in radiology and mammography.

3-D Breast Tomosynthesis is a state-of-the-art technology that produces three-dimensional mammograms and is available at Kearney Regional. The technology, which is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, uses X-ray imaging and high-powered computing to produce three-dimensional mammograms that provide more detailed views of breast tissue layers than conventional breast imaging.

Digital mammography is the most technologically advanced equipment available for the early detection of breast abnormalities. Early detection provides the best chance to treat breast cancer successfully. With the use of digital technology, screening mammograms can now be performed within 10 to 12 minutes. Images are obtained and stored electronically, thereby allowing them to be viewed at any location. Electronic storage eliminates lost films.
