Virtual Visiting During COVID-19

In light of their hospital not allowing visitors, Kearney Regional has added room numbers to their outside windows so family and friends can visit while still practicing social distancing.

According to the hospital, patients’ room numbers will be listed in color at the bottom of windows.

Friends and family who wish to visit patients can check in with their loved one’s assigned nurse, who can assist patients with Facetiming or calling, or visiting from outside their windows.

Those who wish to participate to bring their own cell phones, which a nurse will then disinfect and give to the patient so they can talk with loved ones.

“This is a time where patients want that support, you want your loved ones there. You want your family to be there and you want to be able to see your family member in the hospital, so we want to make sure that we’re able to provide something for their families to visit their loved ones with,” said Safety Coordinator, Ariel Ahrens.

Every patient room has at least one window for visitors to talk to their loved ones from and there currently is no set time limit on how long people can visit.
